There were students from a variety of courses and from as far away as New Zealand and South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Top take aways:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>David Bailey quote &#8220;when they&#8217;re in front of the camera they&#8217;re everything to me&#8221;<\/li><li>Research should grab you. &#8220;always follow the rabbit&#8221;, <em>Stephen Hawkins<\/em><\/li><li>Beware of the historiography &#8211; &#8220;who is telling the story&#8221;<\/li><li>Annotate your bibliography, even if it&#8217;s just to say &#8216;don&#8217;t read this again&#8217;!<\/li><li>30 second rule &#8211; (see below)<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:10px\" class=\"has-text-color has-text-align-right has-vivid-red-color\">(having written this blog, I&#8217;ve moved &#8216;top take aways&#8217; to the top, so that it is read first)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A copy of the PowerPoint presentation from Andrea&#8217;s session can be read <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/debraflynnphotography.co.uk\/OCA\/identityandplace\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/05\/proxy.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So why do research?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Stimulate ideas<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Watched video &#8220;Rankin does Bailey&#8221; from a series called &#8216;7 Images that changed fashion photography&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"David Bailey   7 Images That Changed Fashion Photography\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kuoTMHBnrxw?start=11&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>One comment received re research is people saying that they don&#8217;t want their work to copy others.
