[accessed 30.08.2019] <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is an example of how to write a critical essay in a formal manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"250\" height=\"202\" src=\"https:\/\/debraflynnphotography.co.uk\/OCA\/can-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/08\/download.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1101\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>She has drawn on the tools described by Derrida and Barthes, but expands to link in her own research into the artist and others in order to support her theories and points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I can see examples of PEEL writing in this piece . . . for example:    &#8221; I see a kitchen, denoted by the cooker, fridge freezer and table and chairs. &nbsp;That much is communicated clearly by the use of props. &nbsp;However what we miss in the denotation is the connotation of the type of kitchen that it is. &nbsp;The cold colours of the cupboards and the starkness of the scene, the harsh lighting and the hotspots, give a kind of eerie feel. &nbsp;It connotes a place of discomfort; of coldness and unease which we can sense even though we cannot actually be in that kitchen&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>David Campany&#8217;s video about the book he wrote about Jeff Wall&#8217;s Picture for Women, is a picture he has tried to understand for many years and gives him a feeling of  unease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-vimeo wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"ICP&#039;s 28th Annual Infinity Awards 2012: David Campany\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/41505373?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"525\" height=\"295\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>CAN Student Niamh Farrell&#8217;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" assignment 4  (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"ttps:\/\/nearfarphotopart3.files.wordpress.com\/2016\/05\/assignment-4-context-and-narrative-for-assesment.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"> assignment 4 <\/a>is another demonstration of writing an essay about reading a picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whilst researching Naimh&#8217;s blog, I came across a link to the work of Noemie Goudal, whose work &#8216;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Haven her Body Was (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/noemiegoudal.com\/haven-her-body-was\/\" target=\"_blank\">Haven her Body Was<\/a>&#8216; really struck a cord with me and with the image I have chosen to write about for Assignment 4.
