{"id":1212,"date":"2017-12-30T06:11:46","date_gmt":"2017-12-30T06:11:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/debraflynnphotography.co.uk\/EYV-blog\/?p=1212"},"modified":"2018-08-05T16:48:08","modified_gmt":"2018-08-05T15:48:08","slug":"part-3-traces-of-time-coursework","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/debraflynnphotography.co.uk\/EYV-blog\/course-work\/part-3-traces-of-time-coursework\/","title":{"rendered":"Part 3 &#8211; Traces of Time &#8211; Coursework"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Shutter Speed<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Freezing Time&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>I was surprised to discover that today&#8217;s fast shutter speeds were developed so recently, and that the first photographs took hours to develop.&nbsp; I started my photographic journey with film, many years ago, but even then, it seemed quick to take a photo.<\/p>\n<p>Names to remember in shutter speed development:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Eadweard Muybridge (1830 &#8211; 1904) &#8211; The Gallop &#8211; horse in motion<\/li>\n<li>AM Worthington (1852 &#8211; 1916)<\/li>\n<li>Harold Edgerton (1903 &#8211; 1990) &#8211;&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/edgerton-digital-collections.org\/\">http:\/\/edgerton-digital-collections.org\/<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In being able to stop motion, in the fraction of a second it takes to push the shutter button, we are able to see things that our eyes couldn&#8217;t actually see.
